PRIME MINISTER ACCEPTS RESIGNATION OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER KARL HOOD

ST. GEORGE, GRENADA, MAY 17, 2012_Prime Minister Tillman Thomas on Thursday accepted the resignation of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Karl Hood.

The Prime Minister thanked Mr. Hood for his service to the government of Grenada over the past three and a half years and wished him well in his future endeavours.

Prime Minister Thomas continues to be focused on fulfilling the commitment he gave to the people of Grenada, who elected him to serve and his pledge to implement government projects announced in September last year.

 

GOVERNMENT APPOINTS NEW LABOUR ADVISORY BOARD

ST. GEORGE, GRENADA, MAY 16, 2012_The Grenada government has appointed a new Labour Advisory Board on the recommendation of Minister for Labour, Social Security and Ecclesiastical Affairs, Hon. Glynis Roberts.

The new Board, which will be chaired by the Labour Commissioner, includes a former Labour Commissioner, Robert Robinson and the Solicitor General representing the government; Sen. Chester Humphrey, Elliott Bishop and Lydon Lewis, representing the Grenada Trades Union Council and Michael Graham, Jasmine Alexander and Abel Newton, himself a former Labour Commissioner, representing the Grenada Employers Federation.

DIGICEL LAUNCHES PROMOTION OF LONDON GAMES WITH $10,000 DONATION TO GRENADA OLYMPIC ASSOCIATION

Wednesday 16th May 2012 – St. George’s, Grenada: Digicel has officially launched its promotion for the London games with a donation of EC$10,000 to the Grenada Olympic Association. As the Race to the London games begin in earnest, the cheque which is to aid the Association in their preparation to represent Grenada at the event was handed over at a ceremony on Wednesday held at Digicel office in Point Salines.

CARLTON HOUSE WILL BE A MODERN DRUG REHABILITATION CENTER

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, TUESDAY, MAY 15 2012 – A modern drug therapeutic centre, with patients living quarters and a multi-purpose recreational facility, has been earmarked for St. Andrew.

The announcement has been made by a group of senior planning officials within the Ministry of Health. They say that the new Carlton House Drug Rehabilitation Centre is one of several capital projects to be implemented this year.
